Ukulele recommendations

My #1 recommendation is the Makala beginner series by Kala.  These ukuleles are a very high-end beginner instrument.  

They have a beautiful sound and are very sturdy, great for little hands as they are learning. They come in lots of fun colors and the bridge is shaped like a dolphin or a shark.

Here are some local music stores if you'd like to go that route, or even if you just want to put your hands on some instruments before you place an order.  Ask for a SOPRANO size.  That's the smallest one. It's the size of the instruments in my classroom.
